1. Who we are

Market Lab (“we”, “us”) is an AI-powered stock education and paper-trading app. This policy explains how we handle your data.

2. Data we collect

• Account info: email address and username (via Clerk authentication).
• Profile: optional avatar image (uploaded to Replit Object Storage).
• Activity: paper trades, portfolio holdings, quiz answers, posts, comments, reactions, league memberships, and chat messages.
• Device/usage: app interactions (for feature improvement; not sold to third parties).

3. Why we collect it

• To run the app (paper trading, leaderboards, leagues, posts).
• To generate AI stock analysis and educational content (sent to OpenAI).
• To show real-time stock data (sent to Finnhub).
• To authenticate and secure your account (via Clerk).

4. Data sharing

We share data only with the services required to run the app:

• Clerk — authentication and identity.
• OpenAI — AI analysis, quiz generation, and tips. Prompts include stock symbols and general market context. We do not send your portfolio or personal data to OpenAI unless you explicitly request portfolio advice.
• Finnhub — market quotes, news, and fundamentals.
• Replit — hosting, database, and object storage.

We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data retention

Account and activity data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Avatar images are removed when you delete your account or replace your avatar.

6. Security

We use HTTPS, authentication via Clerk, and database access limited to our server. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow reasonable industry practices.

7. Children

Market Lab is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the app.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. If we do, we will change the date at the top and post a notice in the app.
